Dutch Entrepreneur Visa: Start Your Business in the Netherlands
If you're an ambitious entrepreneur from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland and dream of launching a business in the Netherlands, the Dutch Entrepreneur Visa is your entry point. This residence permit allows non-EU nationals to stay in the Netherlands for up to two years while building their startup or independent business.
Who Can Apply?
The Dutch Entrepreneur Visa is primarily aimed at non-EU entrepreneurs who can demonstrate the innovation and viability of their business. You must show that your company offers added value to the Dutch economy and society.
General Requirements
- You must register your business with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK).
- Submit a comprehensive business plan demonstrating market potential, financials, and innovation.
- Earn at least the Dutch minimum income from your business.
- Hold adequate qualifications or experience relevant to your business.
Points-Based Evaluation
Your application is assessed using a points system that evaluates three main factors:
- Personal experience: Education, work experience, and entrepreneurship background.

- Added value to the Netherlands: Job creation, sustainability, and social contribution.
Alternative: The Dutch Startup Visa
If your idea is still in its early stages, you might qualify for the Dutch Startup Visa, which requires you to work with an approved facilitator. After one year, you can transition to the entrepreneur visa if your business shows progress.
Difference from DAFT and HSM
This visa differs from the DAFT visa (for US citizens) and the Highly Skilled Migrant (HSM) route. The entrepreneur visa requires no employment sponsor but does involve more business-related scrutiny.
