School Holidays in the Netherlands

The Dutch school year is divided into regional holidays to balance travel demand and avoid overcrowding. The Netherlands is split into three regions: North, Central, and South.

Official School Holidays for 2026

  • Spring Break (Voorjaarsvakantie):
    • North: February 21 – March 1
    • Central: February 14 – February 22
    • South: February 14 – February 22

  • May Break (Meivakantie): April 25 – May 3
  • Summer Holiday (Zomervakantie):
    • North: July 4 – August 16
    • Central: July 18 – August 30
    • South: July 11 – August 23
  • Autumn Break (Herfstvakantie): October 18 – October 26
  • Christmas Break (Kerstvakantie): December 19 – January 3, 2027
